Following the initial landings on D-Day, the Allies faced the challenge of breaking out of the beachheads and pushing inland. Despite initial setbacks, the Allies managed to gain momentum and exploit weaknesses in the German defences. The Battle of Caen was one of the most critical engagements during this phase, with the city eventually falling to the Allies after intense fighting. As the Allied forces advanced, they liberated Paris on August 25, 1944, marking a significant victory and a turning point in the war.
The German response to the Normandy invasion was hampered by confusion and disagreement among their high command. Hitler's unwillingness to release reserves early in the battle delayed an effective counterattack, giving the Allies a crucial advantage. The German defence was fierce, with numerous casualties on both sides, but the sheer size and determination of the Allied forces ultimately overwhelmed the German lines.
We will be playing as part of the 5th Ranger Battalion with support elements that consist of 81mm mortars, Heavy weapon squad and armored element with M4 Sherman tanks. Our task will be to liberate St. Lo and its surroundings alongside some key supply positions that are essential for both the Wermach and US forces.
