By May 18, Maykop was firmly back under Russian control. The U.S. suffered a humiliating defeat, with hundreds of soldiers captured and critical military equipment abandoned. Russian media hailed the battle as a triumph of national resilience, while in Washington, political fallout and public outrage mounted.

The defeat significantly weakened U.S. influence in the region and emboldened Russia's allies. The failed offensive raised questions about American military readiness and foreign policy direction. However, behind closed doors at the Pentagon, plans were already underway for a massive retaliatory strike.

Twenty days after the fall of Maykop, the United States would launch Operation Black Tempest, a joint air-sea-land campaign designed to overwhelm Russian positions across the Caucasus and the Black Sea. Carrier strike groups were mobilized, long-range bombers prepped, and NATO allies quietly consulted.

The loss at Maykop was not to be the final word. American leadership, determined to reassert dominance and recover strategic ground, saw the upcoming offensive as a necessary escalation. As military assets began to converge on the region, all of USA allies started to organize and prepare assets to help in the battle, Pakistan sent JF-17 units, and Sweden sent AJS-37, both know for their anti-ship weapons.
