29/08/1944, a US P-47 fighter aircraft shot down the first fighter jet in combat, a Messerschmitt Me 262. German pilot Lauer flew without loaded guns and crashed landed in a field in Belgium. The pilot was fired upon as he ran from the jet, but survived.
