On June 6th 1944 more than 160.000 Allied troops crossed the English Channel in an effort to
conduct Operation Overlord which sought after the invasion of German-occupied Western
Europe. The ensuing brutal combat for the beaches of Normandy lasted for over a week. At last
the Allied Forces were not able to penetrate the heavily fortified “Atlantikwall”. Foul weather
proved fatal for the success of the operation and resulted in the quasi total destruction of the
American and British Army Groups involved in the undertaking.

This victory proved to be decisive as German Forces wereable to successfully invade Great Britain
in August 1945 after delivering last crushing blows to the remaining Soviet resistance that was
concentrated along the Urals. The Faroe Islands fell quickly after, followed by Iceland which
harboured the Danish government in exile. It was then that the German High Command decided
upon utilizing Iceland to stage an invasion of Greenland which was crucial in the facilitation of a
future invasion of North America. Other proposed invasion plans were quickly dismissed as the
American naval supremacy of the Atlantic proved to be a major hindrance to the German advance.
By April 1946 the Germans were able to move over 40.000 troops to the remote coastal villages of
Greenland. US intelligence gathered false information which proposed the Labrador Inuit Lands
as the primary landing site of the expected German invasion. Ultimately this blunder enabled the
successful landing of the German Heeresgruppe “Amerika” on Lumsden Beach on the far
north-eastern tip of Newfoundland. The weak defense was quickly overpowered by the German
force which was being spearheaded by the seasoned veterans of the 6th SS-Gebirgs-Division Nord
and carrier based air support. Newfoundland was captured quickly and was soon turned into the
staging grounds for the planned invasion of New Brunswick and North America proper.
Allied air and naval supremacy turned the Gulf of St. Lawrence into a major hurdle for the
advancing Germans. They quickly realized that Anticosti Island was of great importance to the
control of the Gulf, lastly resulting in the planning and execution of “Unternehmen Dolchstoß”.

Unternehmen Dolchstoß, German for “Undertaking Dagger Thrust”, is being conducted by
Naval Assault Company. The unit is tasked with the successful landing on the shores of the u-shaped inlet known as Baie du Renard on the northern side of Anticosti Island within the Gulf of St. Lawrence and
furthermore with the capture of Canadian coastal facilities to allow a cargo ship to enter and extract a number of Canadian assets present in the harbor.
Einsatzgruppe Nord and Einsatzgruppe Ost will be brought into the inlet under the cover of
darkness by three type VIIC submerged U-Boats. The U-Boats will resurface
as close to the shore as possible and both elements will land at their respective landing zones.
Einsatzgruppe West will knock out a fortified position protecting the inlet, and later will join the main force in their attacks to depart later for sabotage action deeper inland.
