Combat Logistics Support Platoon Interview
For this week’s article, I interviewed 2nd Lt. Gillette, the head of the Combat Logistics Support Platoon. This article will contain general knowledge about what the platoon entails, what they do, what you can learn in their school, how to join that platoon, and other information you may find useful.
Pvt.Patch:
2nd Lt. Gillette, for how long have you been the head of the Combat Logistics Support Platoon?

2nd Lt. Gillette:
It has been a year or so since I have taken up the head position of Logistics platoon.
Pvt. Patch:
What would you say are the main responsibilities of your platoon in the operations in BiA?
2nd Lt. Gillette:
Our job is to deliver the necessary supplies to the front lines. Mostly rearming squads with munitions and grenades, blood and bandages for the medics and rearming and refueling our armored elements.
Pvt. Patch:
Are the necessary skills to perform well in the platoon already expected of a member that just joined or is it a skill that's developed over time?
2nd Lt. Gillette:
It is good to have some skills but it's never a showstopper, any member can learn what their responsibility is and how to perform it.
Pvt. Patch:
Which school belongs to your platoon?
2nd Lt. Gillette:
Combat Sustainment Element / Logistics School.
Pvt. Patch:
Would you say the teaching done in your school is mainly directed towards new members with little to no knowledge on the field or even the more experienced members of BiA can learn something useful in those training sessions?
2nd Lt. Gillette:
The training and learnings done are tailored to everyone that comes to them, depending on the level of initial knowledge. Attention is focused on people who are totally new to the game. There are no cutting corners though, everyone has to attend the class to the end and is expected to apply the learned stuff.
Pvt. Patch:
What are the general requirements to join the platoon and what do you, as the head of the CLS Platoon, specifically look for when considering new members?
2nd Lt. Gillette:
Mostly what we are looking for are people who are capable of doing something on their own, like rearming, repairing, to more complicated tasks such as to go across the map and resupply 3rd section. When I ask my men to do such tasks I don't have to worry “will they miss their target or will they do something wrong?”
Pvt. Patch:
Once someone becomes a member of the platoon, will they be able to play in related slots every operation?
2nd Lt. Gillette:
Once someone becomes a member of CLS/CSE, they can play any related slot or they can switch it up sometimes and play other infantry slots. But newer members are encouraged to take logistics slots and to go out with someone experienced who can show them the ropes.
Pvt. Patch:
If a new member wanted to join your platoon today, what would be the necessary steps to achieve that?
2nd Lt. Gillette:
Notifying me or my deputy, SFC. Angle, that they are interested in joining. After that, the first department training or school that person should show up for their first lessons.
Pvt. Patch:
If you could choose one thing for all BiA members to know or to do during operations to help the CLS platoon, what would it be?
2nd Lt. Gillette:
Definitely land navigation, that is crucial for our way of operating in missions.
Pvt. Patch:
Lastly, what message would you like to leave for the readers of this article?
2nd Lt. Gillette:
When you see an ammo or medical box, don't be greedy, someone else also needs those supplies, don't stuff your pack full if you won't share it.
